The Venice you want to see

In no particular order, the Venice you want to see;

Venetian Bridges

For a city with over 100 canals, you are bound to see lots (over 400) of bridges; the cute, the famous, the ordinary and the ugly.

The most famous is the Rialto Bridge but I like the wooden Accademia Bridge with all the locked love and the epic Bridge of Sighs….. Couples label their padlocks and lock their love on Venetian Bridges, it is so cute!

The Venice I saw

…is shown below!!!! This is probably my last post about Venice, unless I change my mind… Anyway, in my last travel post, I mentioned writing a separate post for Venice.

See Venice the way I saw it.. And remember I was a tourist so this is what a tourist saw… Okay enough, on to what happened in the City of Canals…

Art, Palazzos, Gondola, Vaporetti and stops.

Kensington Palace

Kensington Palace was home to Queen Victoria and Princess Diana. It is now one to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (Will & Kate) and their unborn baby.

It is easily accessible through several London Underground Stations but I think Queensway (Central Line) is the easiest one to use.

Awesome Beat Boxer at Oxford Street

Besides the fabulous shopping, Oxford street always has some street music happening at one corner or the other. Most times, I pass by a dance group surrounded by their audience as well as drummers and even religious groups.

all these performances contribute to the shopping experience on Oxford street. This is one of the reasons why I prefer high street to mall shopping. But we’ll talk about that another day.

Over the weekend, someone came across an epic beat boxer on Oxford street and filmed some footage. I really enjoyed it and decided to share. I don’t even know if he is a well known artist or not. I am that clueless…

Oh well, enjoy!

What do you think of this beat boxer? Is he talented enough to replace the fruity loops software?? Do you love Oxford Street performances?

Balcony / Patio Spring Cleaning [Hot Housewife Series]

I have hardly stepped on to my balcony / patio since the wintry weather set in… Remember, I wrote about how I was so over the endless British winter a couple of weeks ago. Well, its been creeping in every so often and I have been indoors more than I should.

As a consequence my balcony has suffered a little neglect. All I needed was to set aside a few minutes to sort it out. Well, it got lucky this time. I decided to share the love from the rest of the house to the balcony.

Trip Report: Venice for Easter

Arriving in Venice

I have a friend who loves to travel and she can spot an affordable holiday from a mile way.. Six months ago, she sent a mass email to our group to pitch the idea of a group trip to Venice. As long as she did the hard work, we were happy to reimburse. She knows her thing and thanks to her, we were in Venice 4 nights for Easter. Continue reading

East African half-cake Mandazi Recipe [Hot Housewife Series]

Mandazi in the making!

I cook on a daily basis, sometimes more than once a day… It is exasperating but also very fulfilling, and I have a helper who fills in once in a while.

I yielded to my husband’s (not so subtle) hints about making an East African snack / delicacy from our childhood.

Smart Packing for a City Break [Venice]

I have been reminiscing my Easter holiday to the Queen of the Adriatic for the past two weeks. I am finally feeling generous enough to recap… I decided to start with the packing process.

Being my first-ever city break, I had no idea what to pack! Continue reading

The Big Freeze

Someone woke up one day and named the unending/recurring wintry phenomenon – The Big Freeze. I give him/her 100% score for creativity. Does giving it a name make it bite less (my ears are not loving the morning freeze)? Well, I don’t know.

Europe at your doorstep? Not Mine..

Many of the Expat blogs that I have read over the years mention the proximity of (the rest of ) Europe to the U.K. It is almost like having Europe at your doorstep…

Is Europe really at your door step?

Whereas (the rest of ) Europe is quite close and accessible (Eurostar, Ferries, Low Budget Airlines), I wouldn’t compare it to my front yard, so to say.. I love to travel but because every expat is from a different background, our experiences (obviously) will differ. Continue reading

See what I bumped into! #SurprisingSunday

I have read the title to this post a couple of times and it does not sound right.. I’ll wait for someone to correct me.. The first version that came to mind was “Look what I bumped into” but that sounded very Uglish. Therefore, “see what I bumped into” is the next best one. I am still open to suggestions.

I have discovered some interesting things and places around London by accident, and have really enjoyed the surprises. I have been posting some to my Instagram lately and the others are on my old phone. My Instagram should be up to date with all of them soon. Continue reading
